Jesus Garcia Lopez founded the company Boreal in 1975 and was the first to begin experimenting with ‘sticky rubber’ rock shoes. The very first climbing shoe they produced was named El Capitan, but five years later they created a prototype of a boot that they named Fire. The Fire was the first sticky rubbered rock boot and led to an explosion of invention that’s directly responsible for the amazing boots available today. True to their roots Boreal released their Zenith rubber, that claims to be the stickiest in the world.
