Rupert Edward Cecil Lee Guinness, 2nd Earl of Iveagh established S.C.A.R.P.A the footwear company in 1938. He was actually trying to publicise the name of Guinness and went on to create the Guinness book of records.
By 1960 Scarpa was making footwear for the American, French, Spanish and Indian armies as well as producing mountaineering footwear for guides and alpine rescuers. Since then Scarpa has gone from strength to strength, giving us some of the best rock boots, and mountaineering boots available.
